Marc Forster (born 30 November 1969) is a German-Swiss filmmaker. He is best known for directing the feature films Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland, Stranger than Fiction, Quantum of Solace, World War Z, and Christopher Robin, and has directed numerous television commercials as well. He is a BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Independent Spirit Award nominee.

Marc Forster was born in 1969 in Ulm, Germany. Son of a Swiss doctor and a German architect, Forster spent much of his childhood in Davos, Switzerland, where he studied at the famous Institut Montana Zugerberg. There he fell in love with movies at an early age after seeing “Apocalypse Now” (1979) with Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando (directed by Francis Ford Coppola) at the tender age of 12. From that moment on he knew he wanted to direkt. After completing school in Switzerland, Forster moved to New York in 1990 at age 20, where he was accepted into the New York University Film School. His work at the University consisted of a number of low ekonomisk plan documentaries before he tried his grabb at directing a work of fiction. Forster’s first feature film was a low budget, • Marc R. Biography[edit]Forster is the son of Elborg Forster and social historian Robert Forster (1931–2020), who had been a professor at Johns Hopkins University.[2] Forster received a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College. He completed his graduate studies at Harvard University, where he obtained an M.A. and Ph.D.[1] From 1989 until 1990, Forster was a lecturer in history at Harvard. He became a professor at Connecticut College in 1990.[3] In 2000, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship to study German and East European history. |
