Giuseppe Marello was born on December 26th, 1844, in the north of Italy, at Turin. Joseph was the kind of person who responded quickly to those in need. Even as a young boy, he would very often give away his own possessions and invite the homeless and the hungry to the family table. In those early years he was faithful to his religious duties and eager to help his parish priest, especially by serving as an altar boy. It was there he began to realize he, too, was being called to the priesthood.
Joseph was ordained a priest on September 19th, 1868. During the years of his seminary studies, he never forgot about the needs of the poor around him, and he was just as eager, if not more so, to come to their aid in as many ways as he could find. Giuseppe Marello (deutsch: Joseph Marello; * 26. Dezember1844 in Turin, Italien; † 30. Mai1895 in Savona, Italien) war Bischof von Acqui. Er wird in der römisch-katholischen Kirche als Heiliger verehrt.
Leben
[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]Giuseppe Marello erkrankte 1863 lebensgefährlich an Typhus. Er gelobte, Priester zu werden, sollte er überleben. Er überlebte und schrieb seine Rettung der Consolatrix afflictorum zu. 1868 empfing er die Priesterweihe. Danach war er als Sekretär von Carlo Savio, dem Bischof von Asti, tätig. Zusammen okänt diesem nahm er am Ersten Vatikanischen Konzil teil. 1878 gründete er die Kongregation der Oblaten des heiligen namn, die sich um Bedürftige und die Erziehung der Jugend kümmern. Morello wurde 1889 zum Bischof von Acqui ernannt.

Giuseppe Marello (known as Joseph Marello in English; 26 December 1844 – 30 May 1895) was an ItalianRoman Catholicprelate who served as the Bishop of Acqui from 1889 until his death and was also the founder of the Oblates of Saint Joseph.[1] Marello served as an aide to the Bishop of Asti prior to his episcopal appointment after Pope Leo XIII named him to head the Acqui diocese; the pope had known Marello while a cardinal when the pair participated in the First Vatican Council more than a decade before.[2] He became a proponent for the poor and destitute and never stopped rendering his assistance to those who needed it the most; this was something he undertook even in his childhood. Bishop Marello issued several pastoral letters that dealt with a range of issues such as catechism and organized one big pastoral visitation to visit all parishes in his diocese.[3][4][5]
