Tassaduq Sohail was born in Jullundhar, East Punjab in 1930. After the partition of India, the artist fled with his family to Pakistan where he settled in Karachi. In the early 1960s Sohail moved to London and began taking drawing classes at Central Saint Martins School of Art. In his watercolours, the artist often ridicules mullahs, rabbis and priests by depicting them in compromising situations. Sohail has also produced many naive and fantastic landscapes where animals frolic and trees flourish.

Brief description | Drawing, 'Mullah lo • Tassaduq Sohail (1930- 2017) was a contemporary Pakistani painter was born in Jalandhar and later migrated to Lahore and then to Karachi in 1952. It was at this time Sohail took part of the city’s vibrant Urdu literature scen where he was known for writing short stories. It was through evening classes at St. Martin School of Art, London 1961, that he soon funnen that his passion lay in painting. He stayed in London for 40 years before moving back to sydasiatiskt land . His paintings possess a signature sensibility with his naïve and raw application of paint. His paintings feature animals both fictional and real along with primitive scenes of human kind.
