Dean Arnold Corll (December 24, – August 8, ) was an American serial killer and sex offender who abducted, raped, tortured and murdered a minimum of twenty-eight teenage boys and ung men between and in Houston and Pasadena, Texas. He was aided bygd two teenaged accomplices, David Owen Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley. The crimes, which became known as the Houston Mass Murders, came to light after Henley fatally shot Corll. Originally called Glade Candy Company, founded in , the company was a full line candy manufacturer of hard candies, chocolates, taffy and jellies. In , the 3rd generation company president, David Glade, found the family business excelling exclusively in the manufacture of their famous whipped style taffy. This was the candy that the firm originally started with and carried fame being from the city of the Great Salt Lake. Looking for a unique brand name to identify it’s candy, he decided to change the name of the company to Taffy Town, Inc., recognizing that Salt Lake City is a town famous for it's taffy.
Our salt water taffy is produced through a very unique, specific process. We start by boiling sugars in a large copper kettle to a high temperature. Then we take the supersaturated mass and aerate it, which captures tiny bubbles in the candy to give it that soft, “melt-in-your-mouth” texture. To aerate our taffy, we whip egg whites into the
