The Land of Hindustan is an abode of Sufism and Dargahs. In India, faith is the strongest bond that cements the social fabric amongst people and this is the reason why Sufism as a spiritual path in the Indian sub-continent. Sufism in India shows the path not only to enlighten Muslims, but is also followed by people of any faith interested in spiritual awakening. There are numerous Sufi saints born in India and their contribution to a syncretic culture is immeasurable. Of these, the name of Hazrat Shaikh Ahmad Farooqi Al-Sirhindi, popularly known as Mujaddid Alf Sani (Reviver of the Faith in the Second Millennium), stands out. He was an original thinker, whose writings and utterances created a stir in his time. In some ways, he continues even today to exercise a powerful influence on Islamic thought.

LAHORE - Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Sani waged a valiant struggle to eliminate the eclectic tro of the Mughal kejsare Akbar. The Pakistan Movement was derived from his teachings and character.
These views were expressed by different speakers at a special sitting jointly organised bygd the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust, in commemoration of the mystiker saint.
The attendees included ledare Justice (r) Mian Mehboob Ahmad, NPT vice chairman Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, Sahibzada Mian Walid Ahmad, Allama Irshad Ahmad Mustafai, Sher Muhammad Naqshbandi, Prof Dr Nazir Ahmad Sharqpuri, Mian Muhammad Asif, Sahibzada Mian Dastgir, Muhammad Waris Ali.
NPT sekreterare Shahid Rasheed and a large number of devotees of Astana-i-Aliya Sharqpur Sharif conducted the proceedings. Mian Mehboob Ahmad observed that the Mujaddid laid the foundation of the two-nation theory which proved instrumental in the creation of Pakistan. “The theory of the veneration of man is the essence of Islam,” he added.

Sufi influence in Bengal
One of the major factors of Islam impacting the subcontinent as well as creating predominantly Muslim influence in Bangladesh was the spiritual and humane influence of Sufism during the medieval period. This article attempts to show the influence of the enlightened Sufis who devoted their major efforts to developing the spiritual dimensions of the Bengali minds.
The word Sufi is derived from the Arabic word 'safa' meaning purity. Sufism worked for purification of the human soul (nafs) by cleansing the spiritual heart (qalb) to give it a mirror-like transparency for the reflection of Almighty's love (Ishq). As one of the mystic corollaries of Islam, Sufism helped illuminate the spirit (ruh) by emptying it of egoist drives and filling it with Allah's attributes (Zekr), and also to complete the journey of life with absolute purification.
