Max Beesley's public persona is often paraphrased in a series of snappy sound bites: the star of television's Hotel Babylon, the northern bad boy who parties hard with Robbie Williams or the inveterate lothario with a reputation fuelled by a series of stellar liaisons, most notably with former Spice Girl Mel B.
But according to his father Maxton, this celebrity image is a world away from the Max he knows as a loving and devoted son.
A man who, in his father's words, 'fell to pieces' when he discovered his dad had been diagnosed with inoperable prostate cancer in 2005.
