  • The UKBG, the world’s oldest surviving bar guild, has appointed a female president for the first time in its 87-year history.


    Claudia Carrozzi, formerly the UKBG’s chair of Maritime Division, has met her promotion to the top job at the Guild with a raft of pledges to accelerate its modernisation.

    She replaces Salvatore Damiano, who instigated the first steps of the Guild's transformation during his tenure of just over three years. He remains with the UKBG as treasurer.

    Head mixologist for the Cunard fleet of cruise ships, Carrozzi has served the Guild since 2013 - first as a London council member, going on to establish the Maritime Division in 2018 to represent the interests and development of bar workers and operators at sea.

    Carrozzi will oversee the digital transformation of the UKBG, which will welcome a new online membership system, including on-demand resources, access to jobs and training opportunities, as well as partnership promotions.

    The Great (titled onscreen as The Great: An Occasionally True Story and in one episode as The Great: An Almost Entirely Untrue Story) is a British-American absurdistsatiricaldark comedy-dramahistorical fiction television series very loosely based on the rise to power of Empress Catherine the Great of Russia. The series stars Elle Fanning as Catherine and Nicholas Hoult as Emperor Peter III and Peter's body double Yemelyan Pugachev.

    The Great was created, and is mostly written, by Australian playwright and screenwriter Tony McNamara, based on his 2008 play of the same name.[1] The series does not aim for historical accuracy, and was described by Hulu as "anti-historical".[2]
