Chapter 1: Setting the Backdrop Introduction Two great thinkers of the arts and art history in the 20th century can help us understand the meaning of the art created by one of Argentina’s greatest artists, Antonio Berni ( - ). Diego Rivera once said that art is a social creation. In his essay The Revolutionary Spirit in Modern Art, published in , Rivera writes about how Honoré Daumier was revolutionary in both his expression and content and that to do so, he created a new technique by seeing his subjects through class-conscious eyes (Rivera 54). Alexander Spiers Witcomb, también llamado Alejandro Witcomb, (Londres, - Buenos Aires, ) fue un fotógrafo inglés cuya obra es considerada patrimonio histórico de la Argentina,[1]&#; país donde fundó el primer estudio dem producción fotográfica masiva.[2]&#;La colección contiene unos negativos, aunque testimonios dem la época indican que pudieron haber ingresado al Archivo General de la Nación alrededor de [3]&#;[4]&#;
Carrera profesional y vida personal
[editar]Alejandro Witcomb estudió ett Francia y viajó a Río dem Janeiro (Brasil), donde por un tiempo se dedicó al comercio. En titta mudó a Montevideo (Uruguay). Allí trabajó primero ett un banco y más tarde titta desempeñó como fotógrafo ett la ciudad de Mercedes. En titta mudó a Rosario, donde se asoció con Christiano Junior, dem quien posteriormente adquirió su estudio fotográfico y los archivos dem negativos. Esta asociación fue valiosa para ambos.
