    The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) broke away from the MNLF, stressing the importance of Islamic renewal as part of the struggle for self-determination. Its goal is an independent Islamic state.

    COTABATO CITY -- The Commission on Election (COMELEC) from National office conducted a special satellite registration for Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) at Camp Darapanan from September , and around 5, availed of this special registration intended for MILF combatants and their families including MILF Central Committee members headed by its Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim.     Iqbal was born in Cotabato City[3] and grew up in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. Iqbal attended the Manuel L. Quezon University where he obtained both his bachelor's and master's degree[4]

    Iqbal joined the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in August after he returned from Manila. Later he joined the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), then known as the New MNLF Leadership. He served in various posts in both the MNLF and MILF.[4]
