  • Abstract

    Background

Recent evidence indicates that inhibition of histone deacetylase (HDAC) protects the heart against myocardial injury and stimulates endogenous angiomyogenesis. However, it remains unknown whether HDAC inhibition produces the protective effect in the diabetic heart. We sought to determine whether HDAC inhibition preserves cardiac performance and suppresses cardiac remodeling in diabetic cardiomyopathy.

    Methods

Adult ICR mice received an intraperitoneal injection of either streptozotocin (STZ, 200 mg/kg) to establish the diabetic model or vehicle to serve as control. Once hyperglycemia was confirmed, diabetic mice received sodium butyrate (1%), a specific HDAC inhibitor, in drinking water on a daily basis to inhibit HDAC activity. Mice were randomly divided into following groups, which includes Control, Control + Sodium butyrate (NaBu), STZ and STZ + Sodium butyrate (NaBu), respectively. Myocardial function was serially assessed at 7, 14, 21 weeks

  • Let's Demonstrate We Are Civilized In The Real Sense Poem by Bashyam Narayanan

    The tilling of land
The finding of the use of fire
    The discovery of wheel
    The advent of metal usage
    Marked the way for
    Civilization
    And we have been
    Civilizing ourselves
    Since then
    Our ways of living improved
    Generations after generations
    Our comfort level kept increasing
We are at such a peak
    That a peak further ahead
    Looks impossible
But we are yet to be
    Civilized in the real sense
    As we have no regard
For the resources we use up
    And consume so much
That many of us run short
And we have no clue as to
    Whether our future generations
Will have at least a taste of
    What all we have consumed
And we say we are developing
    Each second
We are termed more and more developed
The more we devour the resources
    Minding not whether something left
For others, leave alone for generations ahead

    God said
Be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth
    He, probably, meant
    Stay in comfort
    Genera

Reading: “Expectation (The Eighth Deadly Sin) bygd Kiana

The only trouble with expectation is,

it crawls invisibly into your skull and

paints vivid pictures in your brain and

    promises your heart happiness and

gets you to actually trust someone and

    makes you wait for something

you should be able to give yourself (but can’t) and

    snakes around your chest and

crushes you with its full vikt when

    it

    doesn’t

    happen

    oops, did I säga ‘only’?

    I. Holiday Expectations

It’s the holiday årstid. Our minds turn to many popular stories of the årstid, “The Grinch that Stole Christmas”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “A Christmas Carol”. Ah, A Christmas julsång, that story of greed and selfishness, of Scrooge becoming gentler and generous. It’s almost a Unitarian story. That might be because Charles Dickens hung around a lot of Unitarians in his
